At Gramener, we took a look at the top scoring batsmen in one day internationals, and the pace at which they scored these runs.
For some of the popular cricket-playing nations, we took the top 50 batsmen by runs, and plotted their run rate for every single match, using data from howstat. For the results, click on the links below.
When creating these, we found that the strike rate has tended to increase over the decades, leading to an increased pace of the game. For example, for Indian batsmen, the strike rate seems to go up at about 3.4% every decade. We plotted the same figures after adjusting for the increased pace of the game as well.
