  2. Incidence rate (per 1,00,000 people) = (number of incidents)/(population in lakhs)
  3. Population data from NCRB (ncrb.gov.in). 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 [PDFs]. Population estimates for 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 are considered at mid-year. Original source: Registrar General of India
  4. Adjusted mid-year population estimates for Andhra Pradesh (AP) in 2014 and 2015 are reported after the bifurcation of Telangana state. For calculating the conviction rates for AP, the estimated population is multiplied by a factor of two to extrapolate for the year.
  5. BJP formed the governments in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in 2016. Crime data for 2016 is not yet available and hence party in power sections do not consider these data.
