Evergreen Canada, a not-for-profit organization wanted to analyze environmental factors related to planned and existing construction projects to mitigate the effects of climate change and build urban resilience.

What did we do?

The AI for Resilient City Data Visualization tool pulls satellite data and spatial data from multiple freely available sources such as NASA’s LandSat Imagery, Microsoft’s Building Footprints, an Azure open dataset and Census Data primarily aimed at Municipality Bodies, Urban Infrastructure Planners, and Climate Adaptation Teams.

The tool, built on the Microsoft Azure cloud computing service, is aimed to help Municipalities across Canada by leveraging the AI technology. The solution will address to climate-related hazards, from flooding to earthquakes.

With the help of 3-D data visualization techniques it'll answer:
  • What was the structure of a city five years ago based on the climatic conditions
  • What will be the structure of the city in the next 50 years based on the previous climatic trends
  • How would the city's resilience change if we bring variations into the environmental conditions

This is a scalable urban planning and prediction data visualization tool built on top of spatial analytics technique to help municipalities better evaluate infrastructure projects. The authorities can plan for and mitigate impacts of climate risk and invest effectively for the future.
