Here's how twitter reacted to the GOP candidates' performance during the CNBC debate at Boulder. Ben Carson, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz made great gains and made sure for once it was not all about Trump at a Republican debate.

Ben Carson gained 6486 twitter followers during the "2 hour" CNBC Republican debate, the most earned by any candidate at Boulder.

@RealBenCarson 6486 @marcorubio 4348 @HillaryClinton 3601 @realDonaldTrump 3553 @tedcruz 3216 @BernieSanders 2008 @CarlyFiorina 1611 @ChrisChristie 1052 @JohnKasich 845 @RandPaul 775 @JebBush 679 @GovMikeHuckabee 434 Hillary Clinton gained more followers than most Republican candidates including Trump, the significance being that it happened during the Republican debate! Fiorina is inviting voters for a Hillary vs Fiorina showdown but Bernie Sanders must be smiling.

The debate had its moments but the ones to savour were these.

Bush vs Rubio

Bush aiming to earn brownie points by attacking Rubio's senate attendance got pummelled instead by a classic Rubio response and never recovered to make a mark for the rest of the night. This could be the moment Bush would rue if he were to bow out early from the race. Rubio's victory over Bush earned him 698 followers on twitter in the span of 10 minutes.

Cruz attacks the media

Cruz earned the applause of the audience for his attack on the media. Twitterati too liked what it heard and in the span of 20 minutes 1232 people followed Cruz on twitter.

Here's how the Republican hopefuls gained followers on twitter at ten minute intervals during the two hour debate.
